Today was Nashville's annual Dog Day in the Park. It's hosted by the Nashville Humane Society and Purina.
It was a huge event and there were lots of contests.
We took Haleigh Anne to help her work on her shyness issues and we entered her in the Prettiest Dog Over 40 Pounds contest.
Honestly she was one of the prettiest dogs but when they got through the honorable mentions and 3rd place I kind of gave up. I mean no pit bull is going to win over a golden retriever or all the other purebred dogs that entered. But it was fun nonetheless...
So imagine my absolute surprise when they announced that #40, Haleigh with Jenna had WON FIRST PLACE!!!
Haleigh Anne was the only pit bull in the contest and SHE WON FIRST PLACE!!
I was so excited I was shaking and I almost started crying.
They had me parade her around the entire crowd and it was one of the proudest moments of my life.
My big butterball Haleigh Anne won the Prettiest Girl Award! What a great day for all Nashville Pit Bulls!!
